The Suffolk Volleyball Association will be holding it's second annual grass tournament on Sunday the 13th of June. Last year's tournament attracted sixteen 4-a-side teams. This year they have a bigger and better venue and are hoping to double the number of entries. We are therefore inviting teams from across the East of England and beyond to come and play. With very few veterans competitions around, we have decided to include a competition specifically for the over-40s, so we hope to see a lot of older faces joining the younger generation and getting their competitive hats on! There will be five divisions in total (men's, ladies, mixed, social and veterans),each for 4-a-side teams. The tournament will be held at Chilton Fields in Stowmarket, home of Stowmarket Rugby and Cricket Clubs. Refreshments will be available all day and it is hoped that this friendly tournament will build on last year's successful inaugural event.

New 'Pick n Mix' Volleyball!
Posted at November 04, 2009, 08:55:48 PM
Following a considerable interest to the 'Get Back Into Volleyball' sessions at the UEA Sportspark, we have additionally arranged Fridays weekly competitions for adults beginners and intermediates.
The idea of the competition is simple: individual players come on the day to register, and blind pick the team they will play in. I hope this will create a fun and social atmosphere for the competition, as each week teams will be completely random and participants will mix around getting to know each other. Also, they are not obliged to commit to every week. Simply show up whenever you can and be sure you’ll end up in one of the teams formed on the day.
As it is a competition, individual points will be awarded each week and the overall winner proclaimed at the end of the season.
The competition is opened for all over 16 years of age. To keep the level of the competition suitable for all participants, men and women playing in National Volleyball League and men playing in Easter Region Tournaments are not allowed to take part. (There is already a competition running for them). Under 16’s may be allowed to take part under discretion of the competition organiser, Tomasz.
Pick n Mix Volleyball starts from Friday 13th November, always from 7-9pm. Please enourage as many players as you knwo to attend, especially those who train, but do not get a chance to play in the leagues.

Local League Volleyball Tournament
Posted at September 06, 2009, 11:03:46 AM
The 'Annual Curtain Raising Local League Volleyball Tournament' is upon us.
This year the tournament is indoors in the new Sportspark hall with four volleyball courts.
The tournament is on Sunday 27th September from 1pm - 5pm. Teams must turn up and register on the day BEFORE 1pm, so we can start promptly just after 1pm.
The tournament will cater for up to 16 teams (4 a side, although teams can have 5 or 6 players if they so wish - obviously if 8 players will turn up in your team, then you should have entered two teams of 4!! )
13 teams have entered into the leagues this year and each team has one side entered into the tournament for certain, assuming each team will be wanting to play. We do not want any team to miss out. You MUST enter your teams BEFORE the tournament, so I can ensure we do not get more than 16 teams turning up.
Up to 16 teams will ensure everyone gets a decent amount of court time. It will not be a knock out tournament; it will based on leagues...so that again everyone gets plenty of court time.
The afternoon will cost each player £3, so that we cover the cost of the hall/4-a-side. I need to know from each team representative if they will be taking up the guaranteed place or not.
Please encourage as many players that you know to come along and play in this tournament, so we get a great start to the new season.
